As the design-builder, Coldbox managed all architectural, mechanical, structural, electrical and fire suppression disciplines including site plan approval and permit acquisition.

Sustainable solutions included high-speed rollup traffic doors to minimize heat transfer; an energy-efficient refrigeration system employing scroll compressors, electronically commutated motors, electronic control valves, and programmable logic controls; and utilizing a combined rooftop refrigeration unit that reduces the length of the refrigerant piping and ultimately the amount of refrigerant used, resulting in a highly efficient system. A free cooling system was also employed, cooling some of the space using filtered outdoor air instead of mechanical refrigeration during colder weather.
